Bears and Wolverines Eliminated
Pacelli 1, Bonduel 0
Bonduel’s season came to a heartbreaking end Thursday in a 1-0 extra-inning loss to Pacelli in a WIAA regional final. The Bears and Cardinals battled through eight scoreless innings before Pacelli pushed across the game’s only run in the top of the ninth. Emery Thompson was outstanding in the circle for Bonduel, allowing just one run while striking the zone consistently over nine innings. The Bears managed six hits, including a double by Jayla Reinke and two hits from Maddie Hert, but were unable to break through against Pacelli pitcher Amelia Martini. Bonduel finishes an impressive season with a 22-4 record.
#24 Auburndale 11, Crivitz 1
Crivitz’s season came to an end Thursday with an 11-1 loss to Auburndale in WIAA playoff action. The Wolverines were limited offensively, with Haili Dorschner collecting two hits while Kiya Brand scored the team’s lone run in the fifth inning. Auburndale broke the game open with four runs in both the third and fourth innings and finished with 10 hits. Marli Meyers and Taryn Tracy combined to strike out one batter in the circle for Crivitz. The loss closes the season for the Wolverines, who finished with an impressive 19-3 record and a conference championship.

Chargers move on to host Amherst in Sectionals
Wittenberg-Birnamwood 14, Nekoosa 4
Wittenberg-Birnamwood advanced in the WIAA softball playoffs Thursday with a convincing 14-4 victory over Nekoosa. After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Chargers responded with 14 runs over the next four innings, including a six-run fifth, to end the game early. Wittenberg-Birnamwood pounded out 17 hits, led by Rory Salvesen’s 4-for-5 performance with three RBIs, while Kendall Lex added three hits and three RBIs and Kennedy Benbo scored three runs. Lex also earned the win in the circle, allowing just one earned run over six innings. The Chargers improved to 25-26 and continue their postseason run with another dominant offensive showing.
Amherst 4, Peshtigo 2
Amherst rallied late to stun Peshtigo 4-2 in a WIAA Regional Final on Thursday, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh inning to erase a 2-1 deficit. The Bulldogs appeared to be in control after taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning and holding Amherst scoreless through five innings. Peshtigo collected nine hits in the game, led by Nevaeh Russell, who doubled twice, while Peyton Michalski and Taylor Wortner each added key hits. Amherst broke through with a run in the sixth before its decisive three-run seventh, finishing with seven hits. Division 2 Regional Finals
Luxemburg-Casco 6, #15 Seymour 4
Luxemburg-Casco used a five-run sixth inning to rally past Seymour 6-4 in a WIAA regional softball matchup Thursday. Seymour built a 2-0 lead in the second inning and carried a 2-1 advantage into the sixth before the Spartans’ offense erupted. Luxemburg-Casco collected nine hits, with Abigail Buckmaster, Alayna Deprez, and Alayna Heurkens each producing two total bases, while Stella Schleis added a sacrifice fly. Seymour finished with 11 hits in the loss, led by Kaylee Rettler and Kendra Rettler with three total bases apiece. The Thunder mounted a two-run rally in the seventh inning, but Jasmine Jandrin closed the door in the circle as Luxemburg-Casco advanced with the 6-4 victory.

#7 Fox Valley Lutheran 11, Notre Dame 0
Fox Valley Lutheran rolled into the next round of the postseason with an 11-0, five-inning victory over Notre Dame Academy on Thursday. The Foxes broke the game open with an eight-run second inning and never looked back, finishing with 11 hits while holding the Tritons hitless. Claire Pfrang led the offensive attack with a triple and four total bases, while Nora Probst added three total bases and swiped three bases. Madison Babcock was dominant in the circle, striking out enough hitters to help complete the shutout while facing just 17 batters. Notre Dame Academy was unable to generate any offense as Fox Valley Lutheran advanced with the convincing regional playoff win.
Kewaskum 6, Winneconne 3
Winneconne’s season came to an end Thursday with a 6-3 loss to Kewaskum in WIAA playoff action. The Wolves trailed 5-0 before rallying with two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth, but could get no closer. Sayge Pelletier and Aubrey Mitchell each collected three hits, with Mitchell driving in two runs and adding a double. Kewaskum capitalized on three Winneconne errors and received a strong pitching performance from Maddyn Sabish, who struck out 11 batters. Winneconne finishes its season after a strong postseason run and a year that saw the Wolves compile a 16-9 record.

#8 Hortonville 6, D.C. Everest 5
Hortonville survived a late push from DC Everest and advanced with a 6-5 victory in a WIAA regional softball matchup Thursday. The Polar Bears collected 12 hits and built a 6-2 lead through five innings before DC Everest rallied with three runs in the sixth. Grace Danoski, Breanna Drechsel, Emmy D’Addario, Ivy Schroeder, Madelyn Gassner and Samantha D’Addario all contributed key hits for Hortonville, while Drechsel added a double. DC Everest got home runs from Aubrey Klatt and Mara Meverden, who finished with six total bases, but seven defensive errors proved costly for the Evergreens. Hortonville held off the comeback attempt in the seventh inning to secure the one-run postseason victory.
