Bears and Wolverines Eliminated
Pacelli 1, Bonduel 0
Bonduel’s season came to a heartbreaking end Thursday in a 1-0 extra-inning loss to Pacelli in a WIAA regional final. The Bears and Cardinals battled through eight scoreless innings before Pacelli pushed across the game’s only run in the top of the ninth. Emery Thompson was outstanding in the circle for Bonduel, allowing just one run while striking the zone consistently over nine innings. The Bears managed six hits, including a double by Jayla Reinke and two hits from Maddie Hert, but were unable to break through against Pacelli pitcher Amelia Martini. Bonduel finishes an impressive season with a 22-4 record.
#24 Auburndale 11, Crivitz 1
Crivitz’s season came to an end Thursday with an 11-1 loss to Auburndale in WIAA playoff action. The Wolverines were limited offensively, with Haili Dorschner collecting two hits while Kiya Brand scored the team’s lone run in the fifth inning. Auburndale broke the game open with four runs in both the third and fourth innings and finished with 10 hits. Marli Meyers and Taryn Tracy combined to strike out one batter in the circle for Crivitz. The loss closes the season for the Wolverines, who finished with an impressive 19-3 record and a conference championship.

Chargers move on to host Amherst in Sectionals
Wittenberg-Birnamwood 14, Nekoosa 4
Wittenberg-Birnamwood advanced in the WIAA softball playoffs Thursday with a convincing 14-4 victory over Nekoosa. After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Chargers responded with 14 runs over the next four innings, including a six-run fifth, to end the game early. Wittenberg-Birnamwood pounded out 17 hits, led by Rory Salvesen’s 4-for-5 performance with three RBIs, while Kendall Lex added three hits and three RBIs and Kennedy Benbo scored three runs. Lex also earned the win in the circle, allowing just one earned run over six innings. The Chargers improved to 25-26 and continue their postseason run with another dominant offensive showing.

Kewaskum 6, Winneconne 3
Winneconne’s season came to an end Thursday with a 6-3 loss to Kewaskum in WIAA playoff action. The Wolves trailed 5-0 before rallying with two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth, but could get no closer. Sayge Pelletier and Aubrey Mitchell each collected three hits, with Mitchell driving in two runs and adding a double. Kewaskum capitalized on three Winneconne errors and received a strong pitching performance from Maddyn Sabish, who struck out 11 batters. Winneconne finishes its season after a strong postseason run and a year that saw the Wolves compile a 16-9 record.
