TOWN OF DAYTON, WI- The victim of the fatal motor vehicle crash on Crystal Lake Road has been identified as 18-year-old Dayton A. Tiegs from Waupaca. The incident occurred on March 3rd, 2024, at approximately 11:17 P.M. near East Road in the Township of Dayton, Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
The initial report reached the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center, detailing a one-vehicle rollover crash involving a pickup truck. Preliminary findings indicated that Tiegs, the sole occupant and male driver of the pickup truck, lost control while traveling eastbound on Crystal Lake Road. The vehicle rolled, leading to Tiegs being ejected.
Deputies from the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the scene, initiating life-saving measures on the young driver. Despite their efforts, Tiegs succumbed to his injuries, and he was pronounced deceased at Theda Care Waupaca by the Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The release from the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office did not disclose further details about the circumstances surrounding the crash. The name of the victim was initially withheld to ensure proper notification to next of kin.
The law enforcement response was bolstered by the Gold Cross Ambulance Service and the Waupaca Fire Department, collaborating to manage the aftermath of the tragic incident.
