Shawano Police responded to a number of calls Tuesday, including a reported commercial holdup at Covantage Credit Union on South Main Street. Police were dispatched shortly after five p.m. following an alarm activation indicating a possible hold-up. The report does not provide further details about the incident.
Earlier in the day, officers investigated a reckless driving complaint near County Highway R and Lily Pond Road, along with a personal-injury crash at East Green Bay Street and North Airport Drive.
Police and ambulance crews also responded to Walgreens after an elderly woman reportedly fell in the parking lot and struck her head.
Later Tuesday night, officers took a report of a stolen pickup truck from a residence on River Street. The owner told police the keys had been left inside the vehicle, and the truck was heard starting before it was driven away.
Officers also responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Shawano Kwik Trip, where four youths were reportedly seen putting merchandise in their pockets before leaving the store.
Clintonville Police handled a variety of calls Tuesday, including a motor vehicle crash at Waupaca Street and West Street. Officers also responded to an animal problem near East 14th and Anne Streets.
Police conducted several traffic stops throughout the day, including stops on West Madison Street, North Main Street, near 10th and Hemlock Streets, and at East 12th Street and Lincoln Avenue.
Officers also conducted extra patrols on North Main Street, South Main Street and Memorial Circle. A foot patrol was conducted on Robert Street.
Police responded to reports of suspicious activity on South Main Street and a suspicious vehicle on Willow Street.
Other calls included a noise complaint on 20th Street and two lost-and-found reports, one on East Morning Glory Drive and another on North Main Street.
The department also conducted two sex-offender registry checks on South Clinton Avenue.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department handled a busy day Tuesday, with traffic enforcement, reckless driving complaints, animal-related calls and several court-related incidents among the activity.
Deputies responded to a crash on Highway 29 near Fink Road in the Tigerton area early Tuesday morning. Later, deputies investigated reckless driving complaints on County Highway R near Lily Pond Road and on Highway 22 near Lake Drive. Another reckless driving complaint was reported on Highway 29 near mile marker 201.
Animal-related calls included a report of several cattle wandering onto River Road near County Highway F, as well as a sick or neglected animal complaint involving a dog near White Clay Lake Road.
Deputies also responded to a burglary alarm at a business on Highway 45. The alarm was activated at the night deposit safe, but the call was ultimately closed.
Several incidents took deputies to the Shawano County Courthouse, including security details and warrant-related activity. A theft was also reported at the courthouse.
In Tigerton, a person was reported soliciting without a village permit. Deputies made contact with the individual.
Later Tuesday night, a suspicious vehicle was reported on Hillside Drive, and a reckless driving complaint was investigated.
The most serious late-night incident involved a reported vehicle theft on South River Street in Shawano. The owner told authorities the keys had been left inside a white Ford pickup, which was then heard starting and driving away. The investigation remains active.
