NORTHEAST WISCONSIN –
The BABA Divisional Semifinals featured plenty of offense Sunday, August 16, as Gresham, Clintonville, Little Falls and Wittenberg all earned victories to advance.
Gresham 16, Menominee 3 — Final/7
Top-seeded Gresham powered past No. 4 Menominee, 16-3, in seven innings. Lukas Pecore earned the win, while Jamison Besaw took the loss.
Gresham received home runs from Nate Ejnik and Joe Ejnik, while Carter Weisnicht added a three-run homer. Nate Ejnik went 3-for-4, Crew Weisnicht was 3-for-4, and Mike Pecore went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Menominee was led by Pete O’Kimosh, who went 2-for-3 with a double.
Clintonville 21, Marion 9
No. 2 Clintonville used a big offensive performance to defeat No. 3 Marion, 21-9. Jaden Doornink picked up the win, throwing six innings while allowing seven runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts. Landon Greisch took the loss.
Mathew Morse led Clintonville by going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Turner Doornink added a home run, double and six RBIs, while Aaron Morse went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Brock Smejkal was 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Marion’s Nick Schoen had a huge game, going 5-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBIs. Hayden Miller added two hits and an RBI, while Ryan Mortenson doubled.
Little Falls 12, Leopolis 0
Top-seeded Little Falls shut out No. 4 Leopolis, 12-0. Carter Kurki earned the victory with six dominant innings, allowing just one hit and no runs while striking out nine and walking none.
Kyle Finger led the Little Falls offense, going 5-for-6 with a double and three RBIs. Cam Grunewald added three hits and two RBIs, while Carter Kurki went 2-for-4 with a double. Connor Kurki was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored three runs.
Leopolis was held to three hits, with Brady Hannes, Andrew Kristof and Alex Zimmerman each recording a hit. Kristof’s hit was a double.
Wittenberg 13, Caroline 10
No. 2 Wittenberg held off No. 3 Caroline, 13-10, to advance. Pierson Potrykus earned the win, while Jared Cartwright took the loss.
Potrykus also helped lead the Wittenberg offense, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a walk. Wesley Hintz added two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Nathan Waupekenay had two hits and an RBI, while Noah Cole drove in three runs.
Caroline was led by Jack Yaeger, who went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two walks. Cole Rosenow and Dylan Danforth each collected two hits, while Mason Breitenfeldt added a double.
With Sunday’s semifinal results, Gresham, Clintonville, Little Falls and Wittenberg move on to the BABA divisional finals.
The BABA Divisional Semifinals continued with a pair of high-scoring games, as Eland and Antigo both earned victories to advance to the divisional finals.
Eland 13, Elderon 7
Eland knocked off Elderon, 13-7, behind a strong offensive performance. Tyler Nelson earned the win, while Thomas Lemanczyk took the loss.
Eland collected 15 hits in the victory. Peyton Flees led the way, going 4-for-5 with a double. Charlie Woida added three hits, including two doubles and a home run. Nic Barnes went 2-for-4 with a double, while Jacob Ligenza also homered. Lucas Mandich added a double.
Elderon finished with 10 hits. Brandon Groshek led the offense by going 2-for-5, while Casey Kerstner, Bryce Zoromski, Justin Meronk, Isaac Williams, Carson Meronk, Matt Meronk, Trevor Groshek and Mike Lehman each recorded a hit.
Antigo 18, Birnamwood 8
Antigo used a big offensive performance to defeat Birnamwood, 18-8. Chris Sippl earned the win, while Mason Meverden was charged with the loss.
New London 9, Weymont 0 — Forfeit
Top-seeded New London advanced to the divisional finals with a 9-0 forfeit victory over No. 4 Weymont.
Scandinavia 5, Plover 2
No. 3 Scandinavia pulled off the semifinal upset, defeating No. 2 Plover, 5-2, to advance to the divisional finals.
