Gov. Evers Declares Economic Disruption in Outagamie County Following Severe Storms

OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI – Governor Tony Evers has declared a period of abnormal economic disruption for Outagamie County as communities continue recovering from last month’s severe storms and tornado damage across the Fox Cities.

The declaration gives the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) the authority to enforce state laws against price gouging on everyday essentials and lodging. The action is intended to protect residents who are rebuilding homes, repairing property, or seeking temporary housing following the storms.

Governor Evers said families recovering from the disaster should not have to worry about paying inflated prices for necessities while they work to rebuild.

The order follows the governor’s earlier state of emergency declaration after an EF-3 tornado and widespread severe weather caused significant damage in parts of the Appleton and Menasha areas, along with power outages and other disruptions.

Residents who believe they have experienced price gouging are encouraged to file a complaint with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection as recovery efforts continue across the region.
