Shawano Police responded to a wide range of calls throughout the day Wednesday, including several incidents involving public safety and community welfare. Officers investigated a report of disorderly conduct at American Marine after a man reportedly refused to leave the business. Police also responded to the city skateboard park for another disorderly conduct complaint involving multiple officers.
Several welfare checks kept officers busy, including reports of a three-year-old child found outside alone wearing only a pull-up on West Eagle Street, and a separate call involving a teenage girl sitting in the middle of a roadway on East Randall Street.
Police also investigated the theft of a wheelchair reported at ThedaCare Medical Center and later recovered a stolen bicycle that had reportedly been sold to a homeless shelter resident.
Traffic enforcement remained a priority throughout the afternoon and evening with numerous traffic stops across the city, along with patrols after reports of a dirt bike being ridden recklessly on the west side.
Clintonville Police were busy throughout Wednesday with a variety of calls for service across the city. Officers began the overnight hours by checking on an open door on South Main Street, followed by several business checks and a foot patrol through the downtown area. Police also responded to a noise complaint on Wilson Street and later assisted another agency on East Prospect Avenue.
During the day, officers conducted traffic stops, completed foot patrols in neighborhood parks, and performed a welfare check on North 12th Street. Two motor vehicle crashes were reported, one on Waupaca Street and another at the intersection of South Main and East Madison Streets, where officers also handled a separate traffic-related incident.
Police also investigated a threatening complaint on Industrial Avenue and responded to a death investigation on North Main Street. Other calls included an animal problem, a citizen assist, additional traffic stops, and extra patrols in several neighborhoods during the evening.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled 46 calls for service on Wednesday, keeping deputies busy with everything from traffic enforcement to welfare checks and criminal investigations across the county.
Among the more significant incidents, deputies are investigating a burglary at a property on Valley View Road near Clintonville, where a caretaker reported that doors and windows had been damaged and parts removed from a barn. It’s still unclear what, if anything, was stolen.
Deputies also responded to several welfare checks throughout the day, including concerns for individuals in Shawano, Tigerton and Gresham, as well as reports involving young children found near roadways. Other investigations included a drug-related complaint, a disturbance in Gresham, an animal bite involving a child in Pulaski, and assistance to Marathon County authorities during the pursuit of a homicide suspect.
Traffic enforcement remained a major focus, with numerous traffic stops conducted across the county and deputies responding to reports of reckless driving and traffic hazards on Highways 29, 45 and 117.
Other calls included burglar alarms, suspicious activity, 911 hang-up calls, civil matters, animal complaints, disabled vehicles, repossessions and an open window discovered at a business late Wednesday night.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department also responded to four incidents, including a property-damage crash at North Star Casino, a report of reckless driving, a child abuse investigation, and a 911 open-line call.
