SHAWANO, WI – Another successful Police Lights of Christmas fundraiser is in the books in Shawano County, with Sheriff George Lenzner praising the community for once again stepping up to support local families during the holiday season.
The annual event collects gift cards that will be distributed to families in need throughout Shawano County later this year, helping make the holidays a little brighter for those facing financial hardships.
Sheriff Lenzner said the community’s continued generosity is what makes the fundraiser successful year after year.
“They’re always good events. We have a great community that always shows up. They’re always willing to help, and there’s no better place than Shawano,” Lenzner said.
While organizers are encouraged by this year’s turnout, they’ll have to wait a few more months to learn exactly how much was raised.
“I think it’s going to look good,” Lenzner said. “We have our meetings with the Police Lights of Christmas State Association in December every year, so we’ll find out.”
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office will meet with the Police Lights of Christmas State Association in December, when organizers will announce fundraising totals and begin planning how the collected gift cards will be distributed to local families.
Lenzner thanked everyone who donated, volunteered or attended the event, saying the overwhelming support once again demonstrated the generosity and compassion of the Shawano County community.
