Expectations are high for the Suring Eagles as they prepare to open the 2026 eight-player football season.
After qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2019, Suring enters the fall ranked second in the preseason Northeast-8 Conference predictions, trailing only Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas in the league’s newly aligned standings.
The Eagles finished 5-3 during the regular season a year ago before making their postseason appearance, and head coach Mitch Taylor returns an experienced roster with six starters back on both offense and defense.
Leading the offense will be quarterback Taylor Booth-Stoffregen, who threw for 780 yards and 12 touchdowns during the 2025 season while adding 237 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground.
Suring also welcomes back one of the area’s top playmakers in running back Kroix Kempka. The First Team All-Conference selection rushed for 1,227 yards and 12 touchdowns last season while proving to be a dangerous receiving threat, hauling in 21 catches for 420 yards and five touchdowns.
Grant Thomson also returns to bolster an offense that brings back much of its production from last year’s playoff team.
With experience returning on both sides of the ball and several of the conference’s top players back in the lineup, the Eagles are expected to contend for a Northeast-8 championship in their first season competing in the newly aligned conference.
