NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to expect lane closures, detours and delays as several highway improvement projects continue across Menominee, Shawano and Waupaca counties.
Menominee County
A major reconstruction project remains underway on WIS 47 between WIS 55 and the Langlade County line.
Crews are constructing culvert endwalls, patching culvert locations, restoring disturbed areas and installing new curb, gutter and guardrail as part of the ongoing work.
WIS 47 remains closed to through traffic between County VV and the Langlade County line, with motorists detoured using US 45 and WIS 29. Local traffic and emergency vehicles continue to have access throughout the closure, which is expected to remain in place until mid-August.
Shawano County
Construction activity continues on multiple stretches of WIS 29 and WIS 22.
On WIS 29 between County M and Highline Road, crews are replacing sections of concrete pavement and grinding concrete patches. Traffic remains shifted to the inside lanes, while the eastbound WIS 117 and WIS 47 entrance ramps are temporarily closed.
Farther east, between County J and County M, outside lane closures remain in place as additional concrete repairs are completed.
Meanwhile, paving work continues on WIS 22 from Pulcifer toward Shawano. Drivers should expect flagging operations and pilot cars while crews complete the resurfacing project.
Waupaca County
Several road improvement projects also continue throughout Waupaca County.
In New London, WIS 54 remains reduced to one lane in each direction as crews install new traffic signal bases, sidewalks, curb and gutter while continuing work at the County D intersection.
North of New London, traffic on US 45 remains shifted to the southbound lanes while crews replace pavement, guardrail and storm sewer infrastructure.
WisDOT says motorists should expect flaggers near intersections and occasional traffic delays throughout the construction season and encourages drivers to slow down and use caution when traveling through active work zones.
