SHAWANO, WI – Wisconsin voters who are unable or prefer not to vote at the polls on Election Day can now request an absentee ballot for the August 11, 2026, Partisan Primary Election.
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at their polling place on Election Day is eligible to vote absentee. To qualify, voters must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old by Election Day, have lived in their municipality for at least 28 consecutive days before the election, and be registered to vote.
Voters can request an absentee ballot by submitting a written application to their municipal clerk or by applying online through MyVote.wi.gov. Applications may also be submitted in person, by mail, fax, or email.
Election officials remind voters that proof of identification is required before an absentee ballot can be issued.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is 5 p.m. on Friday, August 7.
Residents also have the option of voting absentee in person at their municipal clerk’s office during designated absentee voting hours. Voters are encouraged to contact their local clerk for specific dates, times, and locations.
Special absentee voting provisions are available for military members, indefinitely confined voters, hospitalized individuals, residents of care facilities, and sequestered jurors. Those voters should contact their municipal clerk for additional information about deadlines and eligibility.
