TOWN OF WESCOTT, WI – A 39-year-old Shawano area man was killed Wednesday morning in a head-on crash involving a motorcycle and a FedEx delivery truck in the Town of Wescott.
According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, the Shawano County Dispatch Center received a report of the crash at 9:22 a.m. on Hillcrest Lane. Initial reports indicated the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and had suffered serious head injuries.
Deputies, along with fire and EMS personnel, responded to the scene and provided medical care to the motorcyclist. The 39-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the FedEx truck, a 25-year-old man from the Green Bay area, was not identified by authorities.
A preliminary investigation found the FedEx truck was traveling northbound on Hillcrest Lane while the motorcycle was traveling southbound. Investigators say the motorcycle crossed the centerline into the northbound lane and collided head-on with the truck.
The FedEx truck came to rest in the northbound lane, while the motorcycle ended up in the east ditch following the collision.
Authorities have not released the name of the deceased pending the ongoing investigation and notification of family members. The crash remains under investigation.
