SHAWANO, WI- Cecil and Hofa Park opened up the Shawano Lobos Tournament with wins on Monday. Both teams will play again on Wednesday.

Mudhens Hold Off Lobos in Tournament Opener
The Cecil Mudhens built an early lead and held off a late rally by the host Shawano Lobos for an 8-6 victory Monday in the opening game of the Shawano Lobos Tournament at Martzke Sports Park.
Cecil broke the game open with five runs in the first inning and added insurance runs in the second and sixth innings to improve to 1-0 in the tournament.
Garrett Engel paced the Mudhens’ offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Ryan Stoltenow scored twice, doubled twice, and drove in a run, while Noah Beilfuss, Braden Uelmen and Reese Stoltenow each collected an RBI. The Mudhens finished with 10 hits and committed no errors.
Shawano battled back after trailing 8-2, scoring twice in the fifth and adding two more runs in the seventh. The Lobos brought the tying runs to base before Cecil closed out the victory.
The Lobos out-hit Cecil 13-10. Chase Henning led Shawano by going 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Tom Keszo, Brad Bartz and Parker Beyer each added two hits. Bartz drove in three runs in the loss.
Miles Friedman earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits over three innings while striking out three. Logan Thiex pitched a scoreless seventh inning to secure the victory.
