UPDATE: The Region 3 championship will be decided Tuesday evening after severe weather suspended the winner-take-all title game Monday night.
Seymour earned a 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Amherst in Monday’s first championship game, forcing the decisive second game because Amherst entered the finals without a loss.
Before storms halted play, Amherst has a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning of the championship game. The contest will resume Tuesday at 6 p.m. with Amherst leading by one run and the Region 3 title still up for grabs. The winner of the resumed game will be crowned the Region 3 champion and advance to the state tournament.

IOLA, WI- Amherst and Seymour will meet Monday evening with the Region 3 championship on the line after surviving a competitive weekend at Scandinavia Memorial Field.
Amherst remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, opening with a 10-0 win over Clintonville before defeating Edgar 13-4. Amherst then edged Wittenberg 9-8 on Sunday to earn a spot in the championship game.
Seymour battled through the elimination bracket after falling to Wittenberg 5-4 in its opener. Seymour responded with a 14-4 victory over Clintonville before eliminating Iola 5-3. In Sunday’s nightcap, Seymour staged a dramatic comeback, scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning without recording an out to defeat Wittenberg 5-4 and advance to the title game.
Wittenberg also made an impressive run, defeating Seymour 5-4 and Iola 12-2 before suffering back-to-back one-run losses to Amherst and Seymour.
