GREENVILLE, WI- The Greenville Village Board has approved a one-year moratorium on new data center development to allow officials time to study the potential impacts of the facilities. The board unanimously approved the temporary pause in a 5-0 vote Monday. During the moratorium, village staff will evaluate how data centers could affect public health, safety, infrastructure and the overall well-being of residents, businesses and visitors. Village officials say the moratorium will provide time to review existing ordinances and determine whether new regulations are needed before considering future data center proposals. The temporary measure is intended to ensure any future development is consistent with the community’s long-term interests.
