Clintonville Police responded to a variety of calls throughout Sunday, July 12th, keeping officers busy across the city.
The day began with a domestic disturbance on West Morning Glory Drive before officers conducted extra patrols on North Main Street. Police also provided mutual aid along Highway 45 and assisted residents on East Morning Glory Drive and Ninth Street.
Traffic enforcement remained a priority, with radar enforcement and a traffic stop on South Main Street, along with another stop late Sunday night at Wilson Street and McKinley Avenue.
Other calls included a report of illegal burning on Coleus Court, stray animals near Garfield Avenue and 19th Street and later on East Morning Glory Drive, a suspicious person on South Main Street, and an agency assist on Industrial Avenue.
Emergency responders were also dispatched to ambulance calls on McKinley Avenue and Anne Street, while officers investigated a motor vehicle crash at Highway 45 and County Highway C. The day concluded with additional extra patrols in the Memorial Circle area.
Shawano County Sheriff’s deputies handled a busy Sunday with dozens of calls ranging from traffic crashes to emergency 911 calls and impaired driving investigations.
Just before 2 a.m., a deputy initiated an OWI investigation near Airport Drive and East Richmond Street. Throughout the day, deputies also responded to several traffic crashes, including a deer crash on Highway 29 early Sunday morning, a hit-and-run on Highway 29 near Paradise Lane, injury crashes on Highway 45 in the Birnamwood area during the afternoon, and a property-damage crash involving a U-Haul and trailer Sunday evening.
Deputies answered multiple 911 calls across the county, most of which were determined to be accidental or non-emergency after investigation. They also assisted firefighters responding to a building alarm in Cecil where occupants safely evacuated, checked on an open door at a local property, and responded to reports of disabled vehicles and numerous traffic hazards, including fallen trees, malfunctioning traffic lights, roadway debris, and a dead deer blocking traffic.
Animal complaints kept deputies busy as well, with reports of injured wildlife and stray dogs in the Bonduel area.
The Sheriff’s Office also investigated several reports of reckless driving throughout the day, with callers reporting vehicles swerving, tailgating, and nearly causing collisions on area highways.
Other calls included a disorderly conduct complaint, a report of overnight vehicle damage in Clintonville, and a late-night rescue after a camper occupant became trapped when debris blocked the door.
Shawano Police kept busy Sunday with a variety of calls across the city. Officers responded to an early morning assist to another law enforcement agency, several traffic stops, and an alarm at Qualheim’s True Value that was determined to be secure after officers checked the building.
During the day, police recovered a wallet found at Smalley Park, investigated an attempted theft at Shawano Health Services, and handled a hit-and-run complaint involving damage to a boat trailer at Huckleberry Harbor. Officers also responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint, multiple welfare checks, and a report of traffic signals malfunctioning at Eberlein Park Drive and East Green Bay Street.
The evening included a juvenile complaint after children were reportedly hitting baseballs into the street, creating a hazard for passing traffic, along with several 911 calls and other routine service requests.
Shawano Police remind residents to report suspicious activity promptly and to use extra caution around intersections whenever traffic signals are malfunctioning.
