Police Beat 7-9


Shawano Police were kept busy Wednesday with a variety of calls across the city. Officers responded to a disorderly conduct complaint at Walmart shortly before 1 a.m., and later assisted multiple law enforcement agencies on County Road MMM near Locust Road during an early morning incident.

Just after 7 a.m., police arrested an intoxicated individual at ThedaCare Medical Center on a bail jumping allegation. Later in the morning, officers investigated a report of suspicious activity after a resident on South Andrews Street reported sheets tied together and hanging from an apartment window.

Police also investigated the theft of a utility trailer from the 500 block of Mills Street, where the owner reported it was taken sometime early Wednesday morning. Officers are also looking into a gas drive-off reported at People’s Express East on East Green Bay Street involving a black Chevrolet Suburban.

Animal control handled two separate stray dog calls during the afternoon, while officers also responded to complaints about excessive noise at Smalley Park and reports of young riders operating high-speed e-bikes on North Humphrey Circle.

Clintonville Police responded to a wide range of calls on Wednesday, beginning with an early morning welfare check on East Morning Glory Drive and overnight business checks throughout the city. Officers also conducted extra patrols at the school on West Green Tree Road and later in the evening around Memorial Circle.

Throughout the day, police handled traffic stops on Main Street, Ninth Street, and Highway 45, along with reports of a disabled vehicle, a suspicious vehicle on Anne Street, and traffic complaints at Highway 22 and Belle Plaine.

Officers also assisted with two vehicle lockouts, responded to ambulance calls on North Main Street and South Main Street, and investigated a fire alarm on Spring Street.

Several welfare checks were conducted during the day on McKinley Avenue, Park Lane, and Motor Street. Police also responded to ordinance violations on Eighth Street and Motor Street, as well as a parking enforcement complaint near 15th Street and Garfield Avenue.

 

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office stayed busy Wednesday, responding to 38 incidents across the county.

One of the day’s most significant calls came just after 2 a.m., when deputies investigated an alleged OWI near County Highway MMM and Locust Road west of Shawano. The investigation remains active.

Throughout the day, deputies conducted numerous traffic stops on Highways 29, 45, and 47-55, along with several welfare checks, including one after a patient missed a scheduled medical appointment and another following the activation of a medical alert pendant.

Deputies also responded to a utility problem on North Shore Drive after a tree fell onto power lines. WE Energies was notified to address the situation.

Investigators took a report of a possible scam from a Shawano resident who said they began receiving suspicious messages after providing information during a recent visit to a Verizon store. Deputies are also reminding residents to be cautious when sharing personal information and to report suspected scams promptly.

Other calls included an ongoing dispute involving a goat wandering into a neighboring field near Pulaski, assistance with an automated crash notification near Anderson Road and River Road, and extra patrol requests in the Pioneer Drive area where residents reported speeding vehicles.

Late Wednesday night, deputies investigated a report of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Highway 29 near South Cecil Street in Bonduel. That investigation also remains active.

In addition, the Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department investigated a suspicious vehicle complaint involving a silver pickup with Florida license plates and a reported drone sighting, and also assisted with the Anderson Road crash investigation.
