OCONTO COUNTY, WI – The DNR confirmed a wolf depredation in Oconto County this week.
According to the agency, USDA Wildlife Services verified that wolves killed a calf on a property in the Town of Maple Valley on July 7.
As part of the response, wildlife officials have deployed auditory deterrents at the site in an effort to discourage wolves from returning while avoiding lethal control measures.
The DNR partners with USDA Wildlife Services to investigate reported conflicts involving wolves throughout Wisconsin. Additional information about wolf depredation reports, interactive maps, and livestock damage payment programs is available through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
