
Willard “Bill” E. Barkow, age 80 of the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County passed away Monday, July 6, 2026 at the ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.
Willard Emil Barkow was born on July 10, 1945 on the home farm on Korth Rd just outside of Embarrass as the son of the late Emil and June (Nohr) Barkow. He attended Clintonville schools and took over the family farm operations following his father’s passing. Bill not only grew crops on his land but also cash cropped and did custom field work for many area farmers and friends. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling and worked at Seagrave FWD in Clintonville. Bill also worked as a mechanic for Gretzinger Sales and Service in Clintonville for many years as he could fix almost anything. He had a tight circle of friends and neighbors that he would often meet with at his home or at Badger Tap in Embarrass. He was not a fancy man but was generous to friends and family.
Survivors include: Creed Norton who he referred to as the son he never had, many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Emil and June Barkow as well as many other family members.
Per Bill’s wishes no formal services will be held at this time. Inurnment will take place next to his parents at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Embarrass. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville is assisting his family.
