Police in Shawano stayed busy throughout the Fourth of July weekend, responding to a wide variety of calls on Sunday.
Officers investigated a report of a reckless driver after witnesses said a pickup truck was swerving across County Highway B-E near Tristan Drive and at one point stopped in the roadway while the driver appeared confused. Later in the afternoon, officers arrested a driver on suspicion of operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop near Green Bay Court and East Fifth Street.
Other calls included a found wallet at Walmart that was returned to its owner, a report of a cat believed to have been shot with a pellet gun, and multiple vehicle lockouts. Police also responded to several reckless driving complaints, fireworks complaints Sunday night, and reports of stray dogs.
Clintonville Police were kept busy throughout Sunday, responding to a wide range of calls across the city.
The day began just after midnight with a mutual aid call on Steenbock Road, followed by a suspicious activity complaint on Memorial Circle and an illegal burning report on West 13th Street during the early morning hours.
Later in the morning, officers investigated a property damage complaint on Modoc Street, assisted a citizen on McKinley Avenue, and took a theft report on West Madison Street. Police also conducted traffic enforcement with stops on South Main Street and at Bennett Street and West Madison Street.
During the afternoon, officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on 4th Street and a disorderly incident at Paulina and Maize Streets.
The evening included three ambulance calls, a 911 call on South Main Street, extra patrols in the Memorial Circle and East Morning Glory Drive neighborhoods, and a utility problem on Harriet Street before the end of the day.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 calls for service across the county on Sunday, with deputies handling everything from traffic incidents and emergency calls to animal complaints and welfare checks.
The day began with reports of fireworks, noise complaints and a disabled vehicle before deputies responded to a deer-related crash on Highway 29 near mile marker 195. Throughout the day, authorities investigated multiple reckless driving complaints, including separate incidents on Highway 29, and answered several 911 calls from locations around the county.
Emergency responders also assisted with ambulance and fire calls in the Shawano and Pulaski areas, while deputies investigated an animal bite at Shawano Lake, an animal problem near Birnamwood, and a sick animal complaint in the Town of Morris. Other calls included welfare checks in the Gresham and Shawano Lake areas, an ATV-related complaint at Quad Park, a property trespassing report in the Town of Wittenberg, and a disabled vehicle near Highway 45 and Phoebe Lane.
Sunday evening remained active with reports of suspicious activity near Highways 47 and 55, extra patrols in Wittenberg, and additional welfare checks before the close of the day.
Meanwhile, the Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department responded to one call for service Sunday afternoon, assisting with a vehicle lockout at Captain’s Cove on Big Lake Road, where a driver had accidentally locked the keys inside a 2011 Ford Escape.
