NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – The BABA season continued with several high-scoring contests over the past two weeks, highlighted by dominant performances from Little Falls, Clintonville, Caroline, Gresham, Birnamwood, Elderon, and Eland.
Little Falls Continues Winning Ways
Little Falls picked up a convincing 16-1 victory over Tigerton on June 27.
Kyle Finger earned the win after striking out 11 over seven innings while allowing just four hits and one run. At the plate, Finger went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Cam Gruenwald collected two doubles and two RBIs. Parker Gullixon finished 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs, and Jenner Gullixon added two hits and two RBIs.
The Loggers followed that up with another offensive explosion, defeating Leopolis 21-3 in seven innings. Little Falls’ powerful lineup continued to produce as the Loggers remained one of the BABA’s hottest teams.
Clintonville Downs Marion
Clintonville earned an 8-3 victory over Marion behind another strong outing from Jaden Doornink.
Doornink struck out 11 while allowing three runs over 7 2/3 innings. Turner Doornink led the offense with three hits, while Aaron Hoffman added two hits. Brock Smejkal and Trenton Vollmer each contributed RBI doubles.
For Marion, Alex Elandt finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Kaden Jueds and Blake Weatherwax each drove in runs.
Caroline Splits Two Games
The Cougars opened the week with a dominant 10-0 shutout of Leopolis in eight innings.
Klay Barkow tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout, striking out 10. Offensively, Gavin Christopherson homered and drove in two runs, Barkow added a home run and three RBIs, Jack Yeager collected three hits and two RBIs, and Kade Rosenow drove in three while also homering.
Caroline later fell 8-7 to Wittenberg despite another productive offensive effort. Dylan Danforth and Klay Finger each had two hits, while Wittenberg was paced by Zach Urquhart, Dalton Zeinert, Pierson Potrykus, and Keegan Schmid, who homered.
Gresham Blanks Shawano
Gresham’s pitching staff threw a combined no-hitter in a 17-0 victory over Shawano in seven innings.
Grant Maus struck out six before Paul Murphy finished the game with five strikeouts in relief.
At the plate, Treyvon Granquist had three hits, including two doubles, Mequon Frechette added two hits, and Crew Weisnicht homered.
Birnamwood Rolls Past Hatley
Birnamwood cruised to a 16-1 win over Hatley.
Logan Thiex earned the victory after throwing a complete-game two-hitter with nine strikeouts.
Mason Meverden led the offense by going 5-for-6 with two doubles. Evan Meverden added three hits, including two doubles and a grand slam, while Owen Dickman recorded two doubles.
Eland Holds Off Antigo Polar
Eland edged Antigo Polar 3-2 behind a complete team effort.
Tyler Nelson picked up the win after a strong outing on the mound. At the plate, Nelson also led the offense with four hits, while Jeremy Jensen collected three hits. Ryan Richter and Jacob Ligenza each doubled.
For Antigo Polar, AJ Kirsch had two hits, Will Kubeny doubled, and Brady Renfro, Mason Gray, and Colby Wincentsen also recorded hits.
Elderon Outlasts Aniwa
Elderon defeated Aniwa 12-8 in an offensive showdown.
Bryce Zornoski went 2-for-4 with a home run, while Casey Kerstner and Ian Salvesen each had two hits. Brandon Groshek, Carson Meronk, and Justin Meronk also homered for Elderon.
Aniwa was led by Gavin Steppert, who finished 2-for-5 with two home runs, while Chris Wiesman went 2-for-5 with two doubles and a home run. Kody Szews, Ryan Govek, and Denton Mortenson also contributed hits.
