David "Dave" D. Pockat

David “Dave” Pockat, age 73 of Clintonville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on July 1, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Dave was born on June 12, 1952, in Tigerton, Wisconsin, to the late Adeline (Begrow) and Ervin Pockat. He graduated from Tigerton High School in 1970 and went on to build a life rooted in hard work, family, and friendship. Throughout the years, Dave farmed with his family, worked for Nolans, worked at Marion Cheese Factory, and later began his career at Marion Plywood, where he retired after 27 years of dedicated service.

While working at Marion Plywood, Dave met the love of his life, Susan. The two were united in marriage on September 24, 1994, and shared nearly 31 wonderful years together. With their marriage, Dave proudly embraced the role of father to Jeff, a role he cherished throughout his life.

Dave enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially loved making memories at the family cabin on Crooked Lake. Whether he was sitting around a campfire, riding ATV trails in which he helped start the Crooked Trails ATV Club, or simply enjoying the outdoors, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures.

One of Dave’s greatest blessings came in 2015 with the birth of his first grandchild, Olivia, followed by Owen in 2019. Being a grandfather brought him immense happiness, and he treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren. Often playing school with them as the student, During retirement, he loved attending their activities, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories with them.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Susan Pockat; his son, Jeff Runge (Haylee Roscoe, Jeff’s girlfriend); his beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Owen, their birth mother Kristina Anderson; Sisters: Janice Pockat and Judy (Ervin) Degener; Sister-in-law, Audrey Pockat; Judy Specht; John (Jane) Runge; Mother in law Lois Weisnicht and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adeline and Ervin Pockat, Brother Dennis, and other loved ones who welcomed him into eternal rest.

Dave’s funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11am at St. John Lutheran Church, W13688 Cty Rd M, Town of Grant, Shawano County with Rev. Dean Suehring officiating. Interment will follow the service at Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9am until the time of service. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of ThedaCare Hospice for their compassionate care. Special thanks are also extended to his nephew Don, Janice, Audrey, John and Jane for their countless acts of support, Terry Dobbe for the meals, and everyone who sent cards, prayers, and words of encouragement during Dave’s illness.

Dave will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of family, his kindness, and the countless memories he created with those who knew and loved him. His presence will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of his family and friends.
