SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano Police Department is investigating the death of a child after officers responded to a report of an unresponsive juvenile Wednesday evening.
According to a news release, officers were dispatched at approximately 8 p.m. on July 1 to 1056 E. Green Bay Street in the City of Shawano following a report of an unresponsive child.
When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived, they immediately began providing medical care. Despite lifesaving efforts, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the investigation remains active. At this time, investigators say there is no indication of any threat to the public.
The identity of the child is not being released out of respect for the family and because the investigation is ongoing.
The Shawano Police Department says no additional information is being released at this time.
The owners of Shawano Mini Golf have closed the course until further notice.
