NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – Motorists across northeast Wisconsin should continue to expect delays and detours as several major highway construction projects remain underway in Oconto, Outagamie and Brown counties.
Oconto County
Highway 22 remains closed through the City of Gillett as reconstruction work continues. Crews are installing storm sewer infrastructure, preparing the road base, and beginning concrete paving operations.
The closure remains in effect with signed detours directing traffic around the construction zone. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time while the project continues.
Outagamie County
Construction continues on Highway 96 in the Town of Grand Chute between Casaloma Drive and North Badger Avenue.
Motorists should expect lane closures, changing traffic patterns, and periodic delays as crews continue roadway improvements through the corridor. Drivers are reminded to slow down and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
Brown County
Work also continues on Interstate 41 as part of the South Bridge Connector project.
Lane shifts remain in place, and overnight lane closures continue while crews perform bridge construction and roadway improvements. Motorists traveling through the area should watch for changing traffic patterns and allow additional time for their commute.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reminds drivers to reduce speeds in construction zones, stay alert for workers and equipment, and follow all posted signs while traveling through active work areas.
