CLINTONVILLE, WI – The Clintonville Area Food Pantry officially became Dave’s Pantry during a special community celebration Saturday, honoring the life and legacy of longtime volunteer Dave Schmidt.
Schmidt, who passed away on June 8 after a battle with cancer, was remembered for his years of selfless service to the pantry and his unwavering commitment to helping families facing food insecurity throughout the Clintonville area.
Organizers say the renaming reflects not only Schmidt’s dedication, but also the compassion and kindness he showed to everyone who walked through the pantry’s doors. For years, he volunteered countless hours stocking shelves, organizing donations, assisting families, and responding whenever help was needed.
The pantry, which has served the Clintonville community since 1986, says its mission will remain the same under its new name. Leaders say Dave’s Pantry will continue providing food, hope, and support to local individuals and families while carrying forward the values Schmidt demonstrated throughout his life.
Community members gathered Saturday to celebrate Schmidt’s lasting impact and recognize the difference one dedicated volunteer can make. Organizers say the new name will serve as a lasting reminder of Schmidt’s commitment to ensuring no one in the community goes hungry.
