SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – The Shawano County Brunch on the Farm returns this weekend, giving visitors a chance to experience life on a working dairy farm while learning more about modern agriculture from one of the area’s longtime farm families.
This year’s event will be hosted by the Kurowski family, who previously opened their farm to the public when they hosted Brunch on the Farm in 2014. Organizers say the family is excited to once again welcome visitors and share its agricultural story with the community.
Kellie Zahn of the Shawano County Farm Bureau says one of the unique aspects of the Kurowski operation is the strong family involvement that keeps the farm running.
“They’re an awesome farm family,” Zahn said. “I think one of the really cool things about the Kurowskis is that there are three generations working on the farm.”
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the operation and get a firsthand look at a successful dairy farm that has become a staple of the local agricultural community. Zahn says the dedication the family shows toward farming is evident throughout the operation.
“You can see in everything they do that they just love and care for their animals and the land,” Zahn said.
The Kurowski farm includes approximately 130 dairy cows and 700 acres of cropland, providing guests with an opportunity to see the scale and daily operations of a modern Wisconsin dairy farm.
Brunch on the Farm is an annual event designed to connect consumers with local agriculture while highlighting the families who help produce food and support the region’s economy. Organizers say the event offers a unique educational experience for residents of all ages while celebrating the importance of farming in Shawano County.
