OCONTO COUNTY, WI – Landowners, outdoor enthusiasts, and forestry professionals will gather in Oconto County on August 1 for the annual Tree Farm Field Day at the Grover Family Tree Farm in Underhill.
Angela Rogers with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the event will provide visitors with a firsthand look at sustainable forestry practices and wildlife management projects taking place on the property.
“Today is going to include a field tour of wildlife and forest management practices completed by the landowners, including wetland scrapes, pollinator plantings, timber harvest,” Rogers said.
Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in educational activities and demonstrations focused on forest health, conservation, and habitat improvement.
One of the featured attractions will be a guided walking tour along the Oconto River. Participants will also learn about a swamp white oak planting project designed to help restore forest areas impacted by the loss of ash trees.
In addition to the tours and demonstrations, Rogers says the event offers a valuable opportunity for property owners to connect directly with forestry and natural resource experts.
“So forestry and natural resource professionals are going to be there to present and then they’ll be available to answer any questions,” Rogers said.
The annual event is designed to help landowners learn more about managing woodlands, improving wildlife habitat, and maintaining healthy forests for future generations.
