SHAWANO, WI – Drivers traveling on East Green Bay Street in Shawano will notice a new speed limit along a portion of the roadway.
The City of Shawano has reduced the speed limit from 40 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour between Eberlein Park Drive and a point just east of Airport Road. New speed limit signs were installed Friday and are now in place throughout the corridor.
City officials say the reduction is intended to improve safety for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and others who use the area. Drivers are encouraged to pay attention to the updated signage and adjust their speed accordingly.
Officials also emphasized that the speed limit change does not affect current ATV and UTV regulations. Under the existing city ordinance, ATV and UTV operation remains prohibited on this section of East Green Bay Street.
Any future changes regarding ATV or UTV access would require review by the appropriate city committees and commissions, along with potential approval of an updated ordinance.
