SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – Motorists traveling between Shawano and Pulcifer should continue to plan for delays as work progresses on the ongoing Highway 22 reconstruction project.
Highway 22 remains closed to through traffic between County Road BE and Pulcifer as crews continue major roadway improvements. A signed detour remains in place through June 30, directing drivers along Highway 32, County Road E, and County Road BE.
Additional traffic impacts remain in effect throughout the project area. The intersection of County Road R and Highway 22 is currently closed, and drivers cannot access northbound County Road R from Highway 22 toward Highway 32.
Construction officials are reminding motorists that even local traffic may occasionally be unable to pass directly through portions of the work zone as crews complete various phases of the project.
Current work includes the continued removal and replacement of multiple culverts between Highway 117 and Meadow Lane, grading operations near several intersections, and bridge-related improvements in Cecil and Pulcifer. Crews are also working on improvements near the County Road R intersection and performing repairs on structures throughout the corridor.
Officials say the project is designed to improve roadway safety, drainage, and long-term infrastructure throughout the Highway 22 corridor.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow all posted detour signs, and use caution when traveling near construction areas.
