LENA, WI – Four Lena High School student-athletes were recognized during the school’s annual High School Awards Ceremony for their commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Leading the group is Zander Thomson, who will attend UW-Stout and compete in track and field. Thomson has been a standout athlete for the Wildcats and will continue his success on the track at the NCAA Division III level.
Joining him at UW-Stout will be fellow Lena athlete Max Peterson, who has committed to play football for the Blue Devils. Peterson will look to bring his skills to one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s top football programs.
Colt Miller will continue his football career at UW-Stevens Point. Miller’s signing gives Lena a third athlete moving on to compete at the collegiate level and highlights the strength of the Wildcats’ athletic program.
Rounding out the group is Taylor Whiting, who will attend the University of Iowa to compete in women’s wrestling. Whiting’s commitment is particularly notable as she joins one of the nation’s premier collegiate wrestling programs and will continue competing at the highest level of the sport.
The four athletes were honored alongside their families during the ceremony, celebrating their accomplishments in the classroom and in competition. Their commitments represent the culmination of years of dedication and hard work and provide another example of Lena student-athletes succeeding beyond the high school level.
