SHAWANO, WI – Families in Shawano will once again have a chance to enjoy free activities, games, and entertainment as the Naberhood Block Party returns for the summer season.
The popular community event kicks off tonight and is designed to complement the Thursdayz at Franklin concert series, offering additional family-friendly activities in downtown Shawano.
Maddie Stuewer, Recreation Programming and Events Coordinator with the Shawano Parks and Recreation Department, said organizers wanted to create something that adds another element to the downtown experience.
“Just something different to mix things up and yeah we’re kicking that off from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with Family Game Night,” Stuewer said.
Families attending the opening night event can enjoy yard games, sidewalk chalk activities, the park’s water feature, and other interactive activities designed for all ages.
The Naberhood Block Party will continue throughout the summer, providing residents and visitors with opportunities to gather, play, and enjoy downtown Shawano.
The fun doesn’t end when the music wraps up at Thursdayz at Franklin. Organizers are once again hosting the Naberhood After Party, giving concertgoers a place to continue enjoying the downtown atmosphere.
“It’s a fantastic way to keep the party going after Thursdayz. I love swinging by there,” Stuewer said.
The after-party takes place at the Stubborn Brothers Beer Garden, which will remain open until 10 p.m. on Thursday nights. Visitors can enjoy live music, food, beverages, and additional time to socialize after the main concert concludes.
City officials hope both events will continue drawing families and visitors to downtown Shawano throughout the summer while supporting local businesses and creating additional opportunities for community connections.
