MANAWA, WI – ATV and UTV riders in the Manawa area will soon have more opportunities to travel local routes following action by the Waupaca County Board. Supervisors recently approved an ordinance amendment expanding ATV and UTV access in the Town of Union, allowing riders to operate on portions of Highway 22 where posted speed limits are 35 miles per hour or less.
The ordinance also opens portions of Highway 110 between West River Road and County OO to ATV and UTV traffic. In addition, riders will be permitted to use certain state and county highway bridges that are 1,000 feet or less in length, improving connectivity between existing routes.
County officials noted that the Town of Union approved matching ordinance language last month, satisfying county requirements needed for the expansion to move forward.
Waupaca County has adopted a broader policy allowing municipalities to incorporate designated state highways, county trunk highways, and qualifying bridges into local ATV and UTV route systems after receiving local approval. Officials say the latest amendment continues efforts to improve route access while maintaining consistency between local and county ordinances.
