
Peggy M. Slicer, age 76 of Tigerton passed away peacefully at her home holding her grandson’s hand on Saturday afternoon, May 23, 2026.
Peggy was born on September 30, 1949 in Ashland as the daughter of the late Edward and Jane (Austin) Nemec. She graduated from DePadua High School and furthered her education at Ashland County Teacher’s College. On August 14, 1971, Peggy was united in marriage to Donald C. Slicer at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ashland. The couple resided in Tigerton where Peggy worked as a teacher for the Tigerton Elementary School before finding her true passion as a librarian at the Tigerton Branch Library. She absolutely loved reading and loved her job; retiring in 2015. Peggy served on the Tigerton Library Board and was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in town. She served her parish on the Education and Worship Committees, as a money counter, and as Secretary, Vice President, and President of the Parish Council. Peggy had a soft spot in her heart for cats, and not just her own but also the neighborhood and stray cats as well. She loved her family very much and is now reunited with her son, Patrick, who was already in the care of our Lord.
Survivors include: Her Husband of over 54 years: Donald.
Her Grandchildren: Ryan Welch, Vanessa Slicer, & Haley Slicer.
Great-Grandchildren: Rhys, Grey, Wren, Anvi, & Crue.
A Sister: Holly Nemec.
Mother of Her Grandchildren: Guida (Sean) Geiger.
Also many nieces & nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Edward & Jane Nemec and by her beloved son Patrick Slicer in 2000.
Peggy’s Memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11am at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tigerton with Fr. Mark Rydell officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9am until the time of the service and inurnment will follow at Union Cemetery in Tigerton. In lieu of flowers Peggy requested memorials for the Tigerton Public Library or the Shawano Humane Society.
