SHAWANO, WI – As the school year wrapped up, the Shawano School District took time to recognize five staff members as Educators of the Year following a strong community nomination process.
Superintendent Kurt Krizan says the district once again opened an online nomination form earlier this year, giving students, staff, colleagues, and community members an opportunity to recognize educators making a difference throughout the district.
“We did a very short application that goes out online in February and is open through May,” Krizan said. “And anyone, community members or students or other colleagues can nominate. We had 66 nominations this year.”
Krizan says the district’s 2026 Educators of the Year included Michelle Powers, Brittney Firari, Brittany Scheelk, Brandi Sperberg, and Julie WynVeen.
District officials say the annual recognition program highlights educators who go above and beyond in supporting students, families, and the Shawano school community throughout the year.
