SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – The Shawano County Historical Society is preparing to kick off its summer season with a special community event planned for June 6th at Heritage Park in Shawano.
Priscilla King with the Shawano County Historical Society says the event, being held in partnership with WAMSCO, is designed to bring residents together while also showcasing local history and the park itself.
“9 to 9:30 they are providing outside the Tabor Church the coffee treats and the Wolf River Wild Ones will have info on their native plants,” King said.
King says the event will also feature a guest speaker, a walk on the island, and several opportunities for residents to learn more about the history of the area. The event with WAMSCO will run from 9 a.m. until noon on June 6th at Heritage Park in Shawano.
In addition to the kickoff event, the Historical Society is also preparing for another season of tours for residents and visitors interested in exploring Shawano County’s past.
“The tour of the buildings will be from 10 until 2. Everything is open to the public. Come and join us and see what’s there,” King said.
