SHAWANO, WI – Sacred Heart Catholic School marked the final day of the 2025–26 school year with one of its most meaningful traditions, celebrating students who best exemplify the school’s commitment to faith, excellence, and virtue through the Cardinal for Christ Award.
The ceremony took place inside the parish church, where honorees were recognized with certificates and medals before their classmates and families. Each classroom selected one student who consistently demonstrated Christ-like leadership, academic diligence, and genuine participation in the life of the school, making the award a reflection of character as much as achievement.
The Honorees
This year’s Cardinal for Christ recipients are Harper Rollin, Ava Carroll, Hunter Goetsch, Anastasia Thacker, Connor Thorson, Ava Raddant, Holly Gee, Ramona Meidam, and Bailey Wild.
Among them, Hunter Goetsch was chosen by a school-wide vote as the overall Cardinal for Christ Award recipient, earning a commemorative trophy for his outstanding example of faith and leadership throughout the year.
What the Award Represents
The Cardinal for Christ Award is the highest honor Sacred Heart bestows on its students. To be considered, a student must maintain strong academics — or show exceptional effort to improve — while actively participating in Mass, prayer, and religious education. Consistent respectfulness, responsibility, and kindness are expected, as is excellent attendance. Above all, recipients are students who model Christ-like behavior both inside and outside the classroom.
Together, those qualities reflect what Sacred Heart describes as the fullest expression of its mission: students who live out faith, virtue, leadership, service, and academic excellence every day.
