
Barbara A. Prothero, age 94 of Clintonville, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday May 23, 2026 at St. Joseph Residence, New London.
Barbara Ann Prothero was born March 11, 1932 in Wauwatosa, WI, daughter to the late Roy C. & Elizabeth Dunse, and was raised in the Racine area. On December 6, 1952 she was united in marriage to Allen Ray Prothero at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Racine. Together they raised three great and caring sons, David, Mark, and Craig. Barb worked for many years as a healthcare provider locally at Greentree and Pine Manor Nursing Homes. She was also a longstanding member of Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville. “Throughout life’s journey there were a few bumps in the road, and a detour or two, but all in all it was a wonderful and beautiful ride.” – Barb
Barb is survived by her three sons: David (Connie) Prothero, Clintonville; Mark (Marilyn) Prothero, Little Chute; & Craig (Nancy) Prothero, Greensboro, NC
Along with 9 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Elizabeth Dunse; husband, Allen “Bunny” Prothero; brothers and sisters-in-law, Miles and Joan Prothero, Jay and Donna Prothero, Gloria Dunse; and a nephew, Greg Dunse.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place from 5 – 6:30 PM on June 18th, 2026, at The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, South Location (299 S. Main St. Clintonville, WI 54929). A private prayer service for the family will take place immediately prior to the gathering. Inurnment will take place privately at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville at a later date.
The Prothero family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Residence West Wing and the Compassus Hospice team. She had great things to say about everyone she met during her stay there. Also a big thanks to Michelle, Diana, Cindy, and all her coworkers and friends who took her to antique stores, concerts, and shopping sprees, keeping Barb young at heart for many years.
