SHAWANO, WI – A popular summertime fundraiser returned to Shawano on Wednesday as Coldwell Banker hosted its 4th annual drive-through cookout to benefit the Our Local Love Foundation. The event served meals throughout the afternoon while also offering free food to first responders as a way to thank them for their service to the community.
Members of the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office were among those stopping by for lunch. Lt. Chris Madle says events like the cookout are a meaningful reminder of the strong support they receive from the community.
“It’s always good when our community does stuff for us,” Madle said. “All these events are a nice little appreciation for us, so we’re happy to come out.”
The fundraiser also drew support from local businesses, with many purchasing meals for employees. Abby Bank was one of several organizations that placed larger orders to treat staff members during the lunch hour.
Organizers kept the grill going for nearly four hours as a steady line of vehicles moved through the drive-through. Early estimates from organizers suggest this year’s event may end up being the largest fundraiser since the cookout began, providing another boost for the Our Local Love Foundation and its efforts in the community.
