SHAWANO, WI – Members of the Shawano FFA Chapter recently spent time giving back to the community with a visit to Kindred Hearts of Shawano, where students joined residents in dyeing Easter eggs and spending time together.
Chapter member Kenley Kelliher said the visit created meaningful connections between students and residents, making the project especially rewarding for everyone involved.
According to Kelliher, the interaction with residents was positive enough that the chapter is already looking at ways to continue similar projects in the future. She says the hope is to return to Kindred Hearts every other month beginning next year to help keep residents active, engaged, and socially connected.
The community service project reflects one of the major goals of FFA programs, which is encouraging leadership, volunteerism, and service outside the classroom. Along with agricultural education and student development activities, the Shawano FFA chapter regularly participates in projects designed to support organizations and residents throughout the community.
Kelliher said she hopes the partnership with Kindred Hearts continues to grow, allowing students and residents alike to build lasting relationships through future activities and visits.
