American Red Cross Stressing Water Safety Ahead of Summer Season

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – American Red Cross is reminding families to prioritize water safety as pools, lakes, and beaches begin filling up for the summer season.
The organization says drowning remains one of the leading causes of death for children, making prevention and education especially important during the warmer months. Red Cross officials are encouraging families to follow the “Circle of Drowning Prevention,” which focuses on several key safety practices around water.
Those recommendations include providing constant supervision for children near water, installing proper barriers around pools, learning swimming and water survival skills, and choosing swimming areas with lifeguards whenever possible.
The Red Cross says taking simple precautions and staying alert around water can help prevent tragedies and keep families safe throughout the summer.
