Shawano Police were kept busy Sunday with a series of calls ranging from domestic disturbances to a stolen vehicle report and a possible drunk driving incident.
Officers responded just after 3 a.m. to a large fight in progress on River Road near Bowler after a caller reported a group of individuals fighting before the line disconnected. Multiple law enforcement units and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
Later in the afternoon, police investigated two separate domestic disturbance calls in Shawano. One caller reported a woman was “too scared to call the cops” while allegedly being assaulted.
At around 5:15 Sunday evening, officers were called to South Humphrey Circle after a resident reported a 2014 gold Chevy Equinox had been stolen from a driveway. The caller told dispatchers a woman “walked right in, took the keys and took off with it.”
Police also handled a welfare check Sunday night involving reports of suicidal messages and a handgun at a Madison Way apartment. Multiple officers responded.
And early Monday morning, officers were called to Engel Drive for a suspicious woman reportedly banging on doors and sitting in a vehicle across the road. The incident was later classified as an OWI alcohol or drugs investigation.
Clintonville Police handled a variety of calls throughout the day on May 17th, including patrol activity, traffic issues and a disorderly conduct complaint.
Officers conducted several overnight business checks on County Highway I and along 10th Street, where police also investigated an open door at a business shortly before 3 a.m.
Police and emergency crews responded to an ambulance call on Industrial Avenue just after 10:20 Sunday morning. Later in the afternoon, officers were dispatched to South Main Street for a reported traffic hazard.
During the evening hours, officers made a traffic stop near North Main and 15th Streets and later responded to an illegal burning complaint on Brix Street.
Police also provided extra patrols on Bennett Street and Memorial Circle during the day.
Just before 11 p.m., officers were called to West 14th Street for a disorderly conduct incident, and minutes later assisted another agency near the northbound Highway 45 and Highway 76 interchange.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wide range of incidents across the county on May 17th, including reckless driving complaints, welfare checks, suspicious activity and a reported vehicle theft.
Just after midnight, deputies received a report of a blue Ford F-150 swerving eastbound on Highway 29 near the county line west of Shawano. Officers were unable to obtain a license plate number.
Minutes later, deputies were called to Curt Black Road in the Town of Wescott after a resident reported his daughter’s boyfriend refused to leave the driveway during a breakup dispute.
In another unusual overnight call, authorities say a pilot reported an aircraft being struck by a laser while flying about five miles north of the Shawano Airport. Coordinates were provided to investigators as they worked to determine where the laser originated.
Sunday morning brought several welfare checks, including one in the Bonduel area after Walmart delivery orders reportedly sat untouched outside a residence for several days. Another welfare check near County Highway Z and Hummingbird Lane was unable to locate the subject.
Deputies also investigated multiple reckless driving complaints throughout the day, including reports of an elderly driver traveling unusually slow near Cecil and another complaint involving a white Honda Civic traveling southbound on Highway 45 from Langlade County.
Other calls included a back door alarm at a business on Deer Drive, a deer-versus-vehicle crash near Highway 32 and County Highway E, and an open 911 line where dispatchers could not hear anyone on the other end.
Sunday evening, deputies investigated a reported vehicle theft in Bowler after a woman told authorities a friend who had been babysitting took her vehicle and could not be reached.
And just after 8 p.m., deputies responded to a welfare check involving a reportedly suicidal man who had left
