CLINTONVILLE, WI- Users of the Rec Center at Clintonville High School will see a ten percent rate increase beginning January 1, following a vote by the Clintonville Board of Education at its April 27 meeting.
The increase amounts to roughly three dollars more per month for a family plan. District officials say they explored cost-saving alternatives before approving the hike but were unable to find any.
The board also approved an immediate change to pool hours, closing the swimming pools at 7 p.m. each night. Superintendent Troy Kuhn cited staffing challenges as the primary reason, noting that most of the facility’s lifeguards are high school students who are not permitted to work past that hour.
Kuhn said the Rec Center generates approximately $260,000 in annual revenue, but the swimming pools alone cost around $180,000 per year to operate.
