Shawano Police stayed busy Thursday with a mix of medical calls, disturbances, traffic stops and welfare checks across the city. Officers were first called just after midnight to ThedaCare Medical Center for a 911 hang-up call. Later in the early morning hours, officers handled several traffic stops on East Green Bay Street and Waukechon Street, including warnings for speed, headlights and registration lamp violations.
Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to an alarm at Covantage Credit Union on East Green Bay Street. Multiple officers checked the scene after a monitoring center reported the activation.
During the morning, police investigated a disorderly conduct complaint on South Water Street after a caller reported garbage cans had allegedly been thrown into the roadway. Officers also conducted a welfare check on Sawyer Street after a resident reportedly had not been seen for about two weeks, raising concern among neighbors.
Police also arrested a woman on a warrant near South Washington and Presbyterian Streets Thursday morning, where officers noted additional local charges were possible.
Around 11:15 Thursday morning, officers were called to Family Dollar on South Main Street after an elderly man reportedly became the victim of a phone scam while inside the store.
Elsewhere, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash near Lakeland Road and East Green Bay Street. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
The day also included domestic disturbance calls, neighbor complaints, welfare checks and additional late-night traffic enforcement throughout Shawano.
Clintonville Police handled a busy mix of patrol activity, crashes and service calls throughout Thursday. Officers began the overnight hours responding to a suspicious complaint on Bennett Street, followed by multiple business checks and extra patrols across the city, including Commercial Avenue, Main Street and Memorial Circle.
Shortly after 7:30 Thursday morning, police responded to a motor vehicle crash on West Madison Street. Additional stops were conducted throughout the day near Green Tree Road, North 12th Street and Stewart Street.
Officers also increased their visibility around local schools with extra patrols on 20th Street and South Clinton Avenue, while a school resource officer gave a presentation on West Green Tree Road late Thursday morning.
Emergency crews were also kept busy with several ambulance calls reported on Motor Street, North Main Street, Flora Way and Industrial Avenue.
Police investigated an animal neglect complaint on West Campus Drive and later responded to an animal problem on Primrose Circle. Other calls included a welfare check on West Green Tree Road, a suspicious complaint on West Morning Glory Drive and a business assist on South Main Street.
During the evening hours, officers continued extra patrols at Olen Park Road, Memorial Circle, Pickerel Point and Picnic Point as Clintonville Police maintained a visible presence throughout the community.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 40 incidents Thursday, including crashes, reckless driving complaints, scams, animal calls and several emergency responses across the county.
One of the morning’s most serious calls came just before 7:10 a.m., when crews were dispatched to a vehicle fire along Highway 29 near County Highway Q in the Wittenberg area. Authorities later cleared the scene. About 50 minutes later, deputies responded to a three-vehicle property damage crash at North and Cecil Streets in Bonduel. Dispatch notes indicate two of the vehicles left the scene before officers arrived.
Deputies also investigated a reported scam in Tigerton after a resident said she received a fake $50 check connected to a supposed lottery winning. Authorities are reminding residents never to provide personal or banking information to unsolicited callers or prize offers.
At North Star Casino Resort, sheriff’s deputies responded to a drug complaint after casino security reportedly discovered drugs inside a guest room.
The sheriff’s office also handled several reckless driving complaints throughout the afternoon along Highway 29. In one case, a caller reported a gray car swerving through traffic and passing vehicles aggressively near Pulaski. Another caller reported a truck traveling more than 100 miles per hour.
Animal-related calls also kept deputies busy. Reports included a loose black dog near Hillcrest Drive, a long-horned cow wandering near Highway 29 and Leopolis Road, and two dead deer along Highway 29 near Tower Lane.
Thursday evening brought additional calls involving harassment, trespassing and threatening behavior, along with a warrant arrest in Tigerton tied to an alleged electronic monitoring violation.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department also investigated a child abuse complaint Thursday morning on Murphy’s Road near Bowler.
