SHAWANO, WI – A new community-driven initiative is already making an impact in Shawano County, as the inaugural meeting of 100+ Men Who Care drew strong local support and resulted in a meaningful donation to a local nonprofit.
A total of 51 members attended the first gathering, combining to contribute $5,100 in just one hour. Founding member Kai Jensen said the turnout and early success exceeded expectations. “Glad we have as many people as we have here,” Jensen said. “It’s going to grow. It makes a big difference in the community. I’m really pleased.”
The group follows a simple but impactful format, where members meet quarterly, hear from local nonprofits, and collectively donate to one selected organization. At the inaugural meeting, three groups presented, including Lakeland Industries, the Bonduel Bat and Ball Club, and Shawano Has History.
Lakeland Industries was ultimately selected to receive the $5,100 donation. Representatives from the organization explained the funds will go directly toward expanding their services. “If we kindly receive the donation, it will be used to enhance our resources with educational materials, job training, daily living skills, and personal development,” a Lakeland Industries representative said during the presentation.

The organization plans to use the funding to strengthen programs that support individuals in the community, with a focus on building independence and opportunity. Lakeland Industries is also scheduled to return at the group’s next meeting on August 6 to provide an update on how the funds were used.
With a strong start and growing interest, organizers say 100+ Men Who Care is poised to become a lasting force for local giving, bringing together community members to make a direct and immediate impact.
