SHAWANO, WI- A local fundraiser served up big support for a community cause this week.
Wolf River Financial-Thrivent Financial hosted a brat fry on Wednesday to benefit the Wee Care Group. Organizers say the event was a success, selling out of food earlier than expected.
“We went through a lot of brats and a lot of burgers,” Scott Parson said. “By 1:30 were completely out of food.”
Parson said they choose Wee Care Group because of the efforts they make to help feed kids.
“They package up food for children for the weekends, and I believe last year they gave out about 147 lunches.”
Parson says the group will now match the donations raised during the event. Organizers report they collected just under $1,000, which will bring the total donation to about $2,000 after the match.
“Whatever we raise, we double every year.”
