SHAWANO, WI- The Shawano School Board has a new president following action at its latest meeting.
Board member Christine McKinnies was selected to serve as board president after current president Tim Renard was nominated but declined the position.
Board member Jeana Winslow was also nominated but immediately declined, saying she would remain in her role as vice president. Winslow was later re-elected to continue serving as vice president.
McKinnies briefly hesitated before accepting the nomination and asked if there were any additional nominations before ultimately agreeing to take on the leadership role.
During the meeting, the board also heard additional public comments regarding district staffing. Members later entered closed session to discuss non-renewals. The board did not return to open session to take action following the closed session discussion.
