Donna M. Cotter, age 84 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 24,
2026, in Shawano.
Donna was born in Plymouth, Wisconsin on May 23, 1941, a daughter of the late Arno and
Agnes (Gumtow) Meyer. Shortly after she was born her mother passed away unexpectedly, so
Donna was raised by her aunt and uncle in Winneconne. She graduated from Berlin High School.
On July 2, 1960, Donna was united in marriage to Russell R. Cotter, Sr. in Cascade, Wisconsin.
Following their marriage the couple moved to Bonduel. Mr. Cotter preceded her in death on June
28, 1991. Donna was employed at the Vlasic Pickle Company before going to work for KI,
retiring in 2006. Donna is a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Red River. She
enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and cheering for the Green Bay
Packers.
Survivors include her three children, Gary Cotter of Suamico, Russell (Bonnie) Cotter, Jr. of
Shawano, and Tracy Cotter of Amberg, WI; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-
grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Michael (Karen) Cotter; her sister-in-law, Gloria Cotter; and
several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her son, Brian
Cotter; her daughter, Jacqueline Hussin; her grandson, Devin Cotter-Nutt; her faithful
companions, Harley and Davidson; four sisters, Ione Fritz, Dorothy Tempas, Dolores Tracy and
Doris Reiss; and three brothers, Donny Meyer, Edward (MaryAnn) Meyer, and Eugene (Donna
Mae) Meyer.
A funeral service for Donna will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Mickelson
Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Daniel Kim will officiate. Visitation will begin at the funeral
home at 11:00 am and continue until the time of service.
