NEW LONDON, WI – Students in the New London School District will return to in-person learning Wednesday, April 22, following recent disruptions caused by flooding in the area.
District Administrator Scott Bleck said the return comes after significant efforts to ensure schools are safe and prepared for students and staff. He also thanked families and the community for their patience and support during the disruption.
Classes will resume at their normal start times, though some transportation adjustments are in place. Students living south of the Wolf River and those attending Sugar Bush Elementary will see no changes to their bus schedules. However, students in certain areas of the city will have modified pick-up and drop-off locations and times, including a designated stop near the Austin Court apartments for some families.
Students living north of the Wolf River can expect normal morning pick-up times, but afternoon drop-offs may be delayed by 15 to 20 minutes. District officials also say school buses will be escorted by the New London Police Department to ensure safe travel routes through affected areas.
Families who are still dealing with flooding or displacement are encouraged to contact their child’s school for assistance. District leaders say they will continue working with families to provide support and help students return to the classroom safely.
