Hortonville High School Closing Early to Serve as Red Cross Shelter Amid Flooding

HORTONVILLE, WI – Hortonville High School will close early Friday as the community continues to respond to ongoing flooding in the area.
District officials announced the school will dismiss students at 1:15 p.m. on April 17, 2026, in order to prepare the building to serve as a Red Cross shelter for residents in need.
School leaders say they have been working closely with neighboring communities over the past several days to support those impacted by rising water levels. With flooding concerns continuing, the decision was made to transition the high school into a safe space for displaced residents.
The shelter will provide temporary housing and support for individuals and families affected by the flooding. Officials say the move is part of a broader community effort to respond to the emergency and ensure residents have access to necessary resources.
Residents in need of shelter are encouraged to head to Hortonville High School as conditions continue to develop.
