$6.6 Million WIS 22 Reconstruction Project Set to Begin

GILLETT, WI – A major reconstruction project is set to begin in downtown Gillett after Governor Tony Evers approved $6.6 million in funding to improve WIS 22.
The project will span just over one mile, from Finnegan Lake Road to the WIS 22/32 intersection, and includes new pavement, sidewalks, storm sewer upgrades, and multiple intersection improvements.
Construction is scheduled to begin April 7th, with WIS 22 fully closed throughout the duration of the project. Drivers should expect multiple detour routes as work progresses.
Despite the closure, officials say access will be maintained for residents, businesses, and emergency services within the work zone.
The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026, with improvements aimed at enhancing safety, drainage, and overall traffic flow in the downtown area.
